My name is Nancy Metzler and I am an ESOL Teacher at Midland Park Primary School. I have over thirty years of experience, and I have taught the grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. I have a Masters in Education and continue to challenge myself to be a lifelong learner. I am certified in Early Childhood, ESL, and Gifted and Talented. I love teaching at Midland Park Primary. My hobbies are running, reading, and traveling. I live in Mt. Pleasant with my husband. We have two children and one grandchild. Our son just got married in Boston! Our daughter is in the graduate program at the University of South Carolina.
I love working with my students. We assess them to see what level they are at and this helps guide our instruction. I use the program "Words Their Way" to teach reading, writing, speaking and listening. This program has the students look for patterns in words linking language together. The kindergarten students are working on the naming letter sounds and sight words. Writing is an important part of our lesson also.
