Ms. Thomas

My name is Lora Thomas and I'm so excited to be the School Counselor at Midland Park this school year!  I look forward to working with your students in classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individually as the need may arise.

This is my first school year as a counselor in Charleston County!  I graduated from The Citadel in 2017 with my Masters in Counselor Education.  I also received my licensed professional counseling certificate (LPC) during this time and I plan on continuing my education in the future.  Although this is my first official year as a school counselor, I have been in the working world since 2011. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Health Promotion at The College of Charleston, and went on to work in Washington, DC at a nonprofit organization that advocated for inner-city children. After that I taught Kindergarten and physical education in Seoul, South Korea until I missed the warm summers in Charleston too much!  I moved back to Charleston and taught at The O'Quinn Schools of Porter Gaud until I started graduate school at The Citadel.  I have always loved working with children and it's my passion to help children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically!  It's a privilege and a joy to work in an area I'm very passionate about!

Some of my hobbies outside of MPP are running/training for half marathons with local running groups, hanging with my friends on Sullivan's Island, being a part of my church home-East Cooper Baptist, and enjoying time with my family!

Again, I'm SO thankful to be a part of the MPP family and if you ever need anything please let me know!

With lots of counselor love,

Lora Thomas
